Patronal Feast of San Benedetto il Moro

The 2025 feast of San Benedetto il Moro upheld the Acquedolci tradition: a triduum of preparation in the Mother Church, the Urban Trail del Moro on the eve (a fun run through the town streets), and, at dusk, the procession of the statue along the streets of the center overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, accompanied by a brass band and concluded with fireworks.

The edition was marked by a historic event for the community: on August 4, 2025, two significant relics of San Benedetto il Moro arrived in Acquedolci, donated by the Friars Minor of Sicily. Housed in a precious silver reliquary from the Bottega dell'Argentiere Amato of Palermo, they are displayed for public veneration on the 4th of every month and carried in procession on April 4 and August 7. One year after the grand celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the patron's birth (2024), Acquedolci thus strengthened its bond with the Saint of the Nebrodi.

The festival is traditionally structured as follows:

• Preparatory Triduum — three days of religious services in the Mother Church
• Eve — Urban Trail del Moro, a fun run through the town streets
• Day of the feast — Solemn Holy Mass, evening procession of the statue accompanied by the band, illuminations, and fireworks
• August 4, 2025 — Arrival in Acquedolci of the significant relics of San Benedetto il Moro
