The Patrons of Pagazzano

The Patronal Feast of Saints Nazarius and Celsus celebrates the protectors of Pagazzano, in the province of Bergamo. Saints Nazarius and Celsus were Milanese martyrs who testified their faith in the early centuries of the Christian era, and the parish church, documented since the 12th century, located in the historic center of the village, is dedicated to them.

An Ancient Tradition

The parish of Pagazzano has its roots in a document from 1168, with an act by Pope Alexander III: a centuries-old history that testifies to the deep bond between the village and its patron saints. The feast, celebrated on July 28th on the liturgical day of the two martyrs, is the culmination of this long religious tradition.

Faith and Community

The heart of the feast is the solemn Mass in honor of Saints Nazarius and Celsus, followed by the procession through the village streets. It is the moment when the community of Pagazzano gathers around its patrons, renewing a devotion passed down from generation to generation. Located in the lower Bergamo plain, east of Treviglio and not far from the Serio river, Pagazzano rediscovers in the patronal feast an occasion for collective identity and reflection, in the heart of summer.
