Edition 2025 — Saint Paschal Baylon in Furore
Furore and its patron saint in 2025
May 17th is an immutable date for Furore: it is the day when the Municipality of the Amalfi Coast, in the Province of Salerno, remembers the death of Saint Paschal Baylon, a Spanish Alcantarine Friar Minor venerated as the "Seraph of the Eucharist." In 2025, the anniversary was observed at the Church of San Giacomo Apostolo, the usual site for patronal celebrations, following the traditional pattern that combines spiritual preparation, solemn Mass, and the blessing of the bread.
The patronal feast of Furore has long maintained its dual calendar: the liturgical solemnity in May and a second summer celebration, more popular in nature, which brings the Saint back into the heart of the village during the period of highest tourist influx on the Coast. It is this alternation that makes Saint Paschal Baylon a constant reference point in the life of a community of a few hundred inhabitants, scattered among the terraces overlooking the sea.
