Patronal Feast of Saint Onuphrius the Hermit

The patronal feast of Saint Onuphrius the Anchorite in Casalvecchio Siculo took place from September 8 to 14, 2025, spread over a week of celebrations. On Friday, mass was celebrated in the Pestarrìu district, with a procession of the wooden simulacrum to the site of the traditional miracle.

On Saturday afternoon, Piazza Tenente Elia Crisafulli hosted the quartareddi games, with blindfolded contestants attempting to break the terracotta jugs, while at midnight the 'U Sciccareddu' fireworks display lit up the sky. On September 13, the town band enlivened the square with its concert.

Sunday, the heart of the festivities, saw the parade of 'u camiddhu at 2:00 PM to the rhythm of drums and, in the late afternoon, the exit of the silver statue of Saint Onuphrius from the Mother Church, followed by the procession through the streets of the town amidst songs and the choral cry "E cu chiù beni lu voli, chiù forti lu ghiama… evviva a Santu Nofriu!".
