A jubilee year for the feast

In 2025, the celebrations in honor of Saint Michael the Archangel in Piano di Sorrento began on September 20 with the novena: every evening in the Basilica, the Holy Rosary, Eucharistic celebration, and Vespers. On Friday, September 26, at 9:30 PM, the evocative "descent of the Archangel" took place with the enthronement of the statue; on Saturday, September 27, solemn vespers were presided over by Monsignor Arturo Aiello, Bishop of Avellino, followed by the jubilee procession along Via Francesco Ciampa, Corso Italia, and Piazza della Repubblica, returning to the Basilica.

Evenings in Piazza Cota

External festivities animated Piazza Cota for three evenings: on September 28, the folk music of Uhanema and Vincenzo Romano; on September 29, the free concert by Fiordaliso; and on September 30, the "Baciati dal Sud" festival. In Piazza della Repubblica, fairground rides entertained families throughout the duration of the feast. On Monday, September 29, the solemnity of the patron saint, Masses were held from morning until evening, presided over by Monsignor Michele Fusco and Archbishop Francesco Alfano; the celebrations concluded on Sunday, October 5, with a Mass dedicated to grandparents.

Saturday, September 20: Start of the novena in the Basilica (Rosary, Eucharistic celebration, Vespers). Friday, September 26, 9:30 PM: "The descent of the Archangel" — enthronement of the statue of Saint Michael. Saturday, September 27, 6:30 PM: Vespers presided over by Monsignor Arturo Aiello, Bishop of Avellino, followed by the jubilee procession through the town streets. Sunday, September 28: Eucharistic celebrations at 8:30 AM, 10:00 AM, 11:15 AM, and 7:00 PM; in the evening, in Piazza Cota, folk music with Uhanema and Vincenzo Romano. Monday, September 29, solemnity of Saint Michael the Archangel: Masses throughout the day, with celebrations presided over by Monsignor Michele Fusco and Archbishop Francesco Alfano; in the evening, in Piazza Cota, free concert by Fiordaliso. Tuesday, September 30, in Piazza Cota: musical festival "Baciati dal Sud". Sunday, October 5: Concluding celebrations, with Mass for grandparents. Throughout the feast, fairground rides in Piazza della Repubblica.
