Patronal Feast of Saint George the Martyr

The 2025 edition of the Feast of Saint George the Martyr enlivened Matino during the days surrounding the patron saint's day, April 23rd. As per tradition, the program alternated religious moments — solemn masses in the Mother Church and processions, including the characteristic "intorciata" procession lit by torches and accompanied by the town band — with a rich secular calendar.

The squares of the historic center hosted artistic illuminations, craft markets, street performances, and concerts that involved residents and visitors alike. An edition that reaffirmed the deep bond between the community of Matino, in the province of Lecce, and its patron saint, keeping a popular tradition rooted in the Puglia territory alive.
