Patronal Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows

The feast of the Addolorata, patron saint of Balestrate, was also celebrated in 2025 on September 15th according to established tradition. The festivities began on the eve with Holy Mass in the votive chapel at the entrance to the town and continued on the day of the feast with services at the Mother Church of Sant'Anna.

In the afternoon, the statue of the Virgin of Sorrows was carried in procession through the streets of the center by members of the Congregation of the Addolorata, featuring the banner with the hand-painted face of Mary and the confreres wearing the characteristic oval silver medallion. As is customary, the procession stopped in front of the Town Hall for the floral tribute and the reading of the Act of Entrustment to Mary.
