Patronal Feast of Maria SS. della Catena and Saint Michael the Archangel

The 2025 edition of the Patronal Feast of Maria SS. della Catena and Saint Michael the Archangel took place in Librizzi, in the province of Messina, on the Sunday following Ferragosto, renewing centuries-old rites.

The day featured Solemn Holy Mass in Piazza Catena with the coronation of the Madonna, followed in the afternoon by the procession of the Gagini marble statue and the wooden statue of Saint Michael the Archangel, carried by barefoot bearers through the historic center. The traditional stop at the ancient walnut tree with the ciaramedda ritual and the cry of "Viva Maria" was observed, while in the evening, a musical show and fireworks concluded a festival deeply cherished by the Nebrodi community.
