Patron Saint Festival — Saint Michael the Archangel and Saint Catherine of Alexandria

The 2025 edition of the Grammichele Patron Saint Festival confirmed the vitality of a tradition rooted in the founding of the hexagonal city. In 2025, the central moment was once again the solemn procession on May 8th: at sunset, the statues of Saint Michael the Archangel and Saint Catherine of Alexandria were carried out of the Mother Church on the artistic 'Vara', borne on shoulders through the streets of the historic center and welcomed in Piazza Carlo Maria Carafa by the release of palluna di San Michele, colorful confetti, and spectacular fireworks. Alongside the religious rites, the week of festivities offered moments of music, folklore, and gastronomy, confirming May 8th as the most anticipated identity-defining event of the year for the entire Grammichele community, in the province of Catania.
