Edition 2025 — Passion of Christ in Monterosi

In 2025, Good Friday fell on April 18th, and Monterosi renewed, as it does every year, its Passion of Christ Procession. The procession moved from the Santa Croce church to cross the historic center of the Viterbo town in the evening, along Via Roma illuminated by the residents. A rite that belongs to the Holy Week of Tuscia and gathers the entire community every spring.

Good Friday 2025

On April 18, 2025, Good Friday, Monterosi repeated the rite that has marked its Holy Week for generations: the Passion of Christ Procession through the streets of the historic center, starting from the Santa Croce church and following the route along Via Roma.

As per tradition, the residents illuminated the facades of the houses along the route, while in Piazza Garibaldi, the statuary Lamentation of Christ remained the focal point, the monumental work by local masters Mario and Marco Agrestini presented for the first time in 2024.

The Monterosi procession is part of the dense calendar of Good Friday rites in the province of Viterbo, in Lazio, where almost every village preserves its own form of Passion representation.
