Edition 2025 — Latera Passio Christi

In 2025, Good Friday fell on April 18: at 9:30 PM, Latera renewed one of the oldest traditions in Tuscia, with the Passio Christi re-enactment in Piazza della Vita followed by the Procession of the Dead Christ through the village streets. That year, the procession was also illuminated by the confraternities' lanterns and accompanied by oral-tradition chants, with free participation.

The 2025 edition

On Friday, April 18, 2025, at 9:30 PM, the village of Latera in the province of Viterbo celebrated Good Friday with the customary re-enactment of the Passio Christi in Piazza della Vita and with the Procession of the Dead Christ along the streets of the historic center.

As every year, the evening was defined by the two elements that make the Latera tradition recognizable: the lanterns made from Orvieto flasks, which replace public lighting along the route, and the oral-tradition chants of the village confraternities. Participation was open and free.
