Pane Meliga and Zangareu Festival

The 2025 edition of the Pane Meliga and Zangareu Festival was supposed to take place on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in Piazza San Gaudenzio, in Galliate, in the heart of the Missanghera district. The festival, now in its 38th year, was cancelled at the last minute: the announcement was made on the evening of Saturday, March 8, after two resident volunteers were rescued and hospitalized for carbon monoxide poisoning that occurred during preparations. An incident that prompted the organizers to suspend the traditional season-opening event of the district as a precautionary measure.
