Palio di Provenzano

The Palio of July 2, 2025, renewed the great Sienese festival in Piazza del Campo as it does every year, with the tratta, the six trials, and the Historical Pageant preceding the race. The Drappellone was created by the Sienese painter Riccardo Manganelli, a member of the Nicchio Contrada, and presented on June 26 in the Cortile del Podestà. The work, dedicated to the Madonna di Provenzano and the five-hundredth anniversary of the Accademia degli Intronati, depicts a horse in the foreground, the Madonna di Provenzano in the center, and a view of Siena in the background. As per tradition, the race featured the monumental Historical Pageant with costumed participants, flag-wavers, and drummers, before the three laps of the track that awarded the Palio to the winning Contrada.
