Palio delle Pupe

On August 15, 2025, Cappelle sul Tavo celebrated the 50th edition of the Palio delle Pupe, an important milestone for one of the longest-running folk traditions in Abruzzo. The evening began with the opening of the Palio Arena on Via Fiume Tavo and the free shuttle service operating from 7:00 PM from the Sports Field and the Kilometro Lanciato.

A special guest of the edition was Pippo Palmieri, a speaker from Radio 105, who hosted the Palio Arena. In the heart of the evening, the districts brought their papier-mâché puppets with feminine forms to the stage, bringing to life the traditional competition of lights and fireworks before the jury.

In the puppet rankings, the La Marianne district won, followed by Ammond a la valle and Lu Magazzeno. In the allegorical parade rankings, first place went to A Pite a li Coste, ahead of La Piazza/Lu Quarte da cape and La Marianne itself. The municipal administration defined the event as "an unforgettable edition, full of emotions, tradition, and great participation".

Friday, August 15, 2025 — Palio Arena, Via Fiume Tavo

• 7:00 PM — Opening of the Palio Arena and start of the free shuttle service (Sports Field on Via Fosso Annuccia and Kilometro Lanciato, Terrarossa roundabout)
• In the evening — Allegorical parade of the districts and presentation of the puppets
• To follow — Pyrotechnic competition of the puppets before the jury, hosted by special guest Pippo Palmieri (Radio 105)

Free admission. Food stalls with typical Abruzzo dishes.
