Edition 2025 — Palio delle Contrade

In 2025, the Palio delle Contrade of San Secondo Parmense re-enacted its traditional Renaissance re-enactment of the wedding between Pier Maria III de' Rossi and Camilla Gonzaga, with costume parades, a competition of musicians and flag-wavers, banquets in the districts, and the Quintana Joust held among the six districts of the village in front of the Rocca dei Rossi.

Palio delle Contrade 2025

The 2025 edition confirmed San Secondo Parmense's strong connection to its Renaissance history. The village, in the province of Parma, came alive with decorated streets, adorned houses, and costumed participants who re-enacted the lavish ceremonies of 1523.

Amidst pre-race dinners, investitures of District Lords, the competition of musicians and flag-wavers, and the solemn historical pageant with the Court of the Rossi, the event culminated in the Giostra della Quintana, with the knights of the six districts — Bureg di Minén, Castell'Aicardi, Dragonda, Grillo, Prevostura, and Trinità — competing to win the painted Palio.
