Palio delle Contrade of Buti

The 2025 edition

The 2025 Palio of Buti took place on Sunday, January 19th, confirming itself as the first palio of the year in Italy, on the Sunday following the feast of Saint Anthony the Abbot. The traditional day brought the village together with the tripe breakfast, the historical pageant of the seven districts, and the race along the main street of the town, in the Province of Pisa.

The San Francesco district prevailed, with jockey Gavino Sanna riding Beniamino, a splendid grey horse trained by Giovanni Atzeni. For San Francesco, it was the tenth victory in the history of the Palio and the first since 2010, after fifteen years of waiting. On the podium, behind the yellow-blacks, the Case La Croce district took second place and Pievania third.
