2025 Bigonzo Race in Canale Monterano
The 55th edition of the Bigonzo Race took place on Sunday, August 24, 2025, in Canale Monterano, in the province of Rome, Lazio. The day, with celebrations spread from 11 am to 11 pm, re-proposed the unchanging ritual of the patronal feast of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle and Saint Calepodia.
After the reading of the Palio Proclamation and the parade of the historical pageant — with ladies, knights, flag-wavers, and drummers representing the six districts — the race took place, seeing Carraiola, Casenove, Centro, Castagno, Montevirginio, and Stigliano compete for the palio along the 135-meter course. The victory went to the Casenove district, which thus inscribed its name in the event's roll of honor after Montevirginio's success in 2024.
