The 30th edition of the Palio della Stella
The 2025 edition marked a special milestone: the 30th edition of the Palio della Stella, celebrated in Sacrofano from September 12 to 14, 2025. The festival was prepared by weeks of events: the wheelbarrow race on August 30, district dinners starting August 31, the Maria Assunta festival in Borgo Pineto on September 6, the captains' dinner on September 10, and the official presentation of the Palio on September 11.
During the peak weekend, the historic center came alive with the grand parade in medieval costumes and the crowning of the most beautiful lady, performances by flag-wavers, archers, jesters, and minstrels, stalls of arts and crafts, and food and wine spaces. On Sunday, September 14, the most anticipated moment took place: the equestrian joust at the racecourse, with two riders from each district tasked with spearing three stars and a ring with a lance in just a few seconds, in front of a large crowd.
