Palio dell'Anello and Historical Re-enactment of the Contrade

The 2025 edition of the Palio dell'Anello of Tarquinia took place from May 30 to June 1 with a packed program of history, entertainment, and culture. On Friday, May 30, the conference "Identity and Tradition: Perspectives for the Palio dell'Anello" opened the event in the town hall council chamber, followed in the evening by the oath and blessing of the knights in Piazza Giacomo Matteotti, featuring a performance by the Gruppo Storico Spadaccini of Soriano nel Cimino. On Saturday, May 31, the grand historical procession crossed the center with the contrade in period costumes, while on Sunday, June 1, the ten competing contrade challenged each other in the ring joust at the Giuseppe Cardoni sports field: the joust was won by knight Daniele Leri, with the awards ceremony held in Piazza Cavour. The event was promoted by the Municipality of Tarquinia with the Società Tarquiniense d'Arte e Storia, Pro Loco, Associazione Pro Tarquinia, and ASD Palio dell'Anello, with the patronage of the Lazio Region and the Province of Viterbo.
