Edition 2025 — Palio del Ticino

In 2025, the Palio del Ticino did not take place: the event paused for a year due to organizational issues, similar to what happened during Covid, with the announcement of its return in 2026 for the palio's twentieth anniversary. The tradition of the historical procession and the barcè rowing race on the Ticino remains alive and awaited by the city.

2025 was a year of pause for the Palio del Ticino. Pavia's historic reenactment, dedicated to the victory of the Visconti fleet in 1431, took a one-year break due to organizational hurdles — a suspension reminiscent of the one experienced during the pandemic years. However, organizers have announced the event's return in 2026, in a special edition dedicated to the twentieth anniversary of the palio's refoundation. The tradition of the historical procession and the barcè rowing race on the Ticino thus remains alive and eagerly awaited by the city.
