Edition 2025 — Palio dei Somari-Sindaci

In 2025, the Palio dei Somari-Sindaci brought Amatrice to life on Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27, in a fourteenth edition that drew a large crowd around Porta San Francesco. Between the historical pageant, the blessing of the donkeys, and the donkey race featuring the mayors' names, the event confirmed its spirit of tradition, fun, and community, celebrating the belonging of the towns in the earthquake-affected area.

The 2025 edition of the Palio dei Somari-Sindaci took place in Amatrice on Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27, with the traditional schedule including the historical pageant, the jockeys' oath, the blessing of the donkeys, and the race of the donkeys representing the local municipalities.

The event, organized by the Pro Loco, saw great public success, confirming itself as an identity-defining appointment for the communities of Rieti and the central Apennines. Tradition, irony, and a sense of community accompanied the two days of celebration, amidst folklore and local flavors of the Amatrice territory, in the province of Rieti.
