Our Lady of the Snows Festival and Mount Cervati Pilgrimage

2025 Edition

The 2025 edition of the Sanza patronal feast confirmed the vitality of a thousand-year-old tradition. On July 26th, the marunnari accompanied the wooden statue of the Madonna and Child to the sanctuary on the summit of Mount Cervati, where it remained until the processional return on the night between August 4th and 5th.

The day of August 5th, 2025, began with the arrival of the statue in the village and the celebrations in the Mother Church of Santa Maria Assunta, after the stop at the chapel of the Archconfraternity of Santa Maria della Neve in Piazza Plebiscito. In the afternoon, the procession with the statue of Saint Sabinus crossed the historic center, while in the evening, Piazza Falcone hosted the outdoor Eucharistic celebration presided over by Msgr. Antonio De Luca, bishop of Teggiano-Policastro, with local priests, Mayor Vittorio Esposito, and civil and military authorities.

As every year, thousands of faithful from all over Campania and neighboring regions reached this corner of the Cilento region to participate in a ritual recognized by the Campania Region as intangible cultural heritage.

August 5th, 2025 — Solemnity of Our Lady of the Snows

• Around 9:30 AM: arrival in Piazza Plebiscito of the wooden statue of the Madonna and Child, brought back from the Mount Cervati sanctuary on the traditional stipa by the marunnari
• 10:25 AM and 11:30 AM: holy masses in the Mother Church of Santa Maria Assunta, presided over by the parish priest Father Giuseppe Spinelli
• 5:00 PM: procession from the Mother Church with the statue of the Patron Saint Sabinus Martyr
• 8:00 PM: outdoor Eucharistic celebration in Piazza Falcone presided over by Msgr. Antonio De Luca, bishop of Teggiano-Policastro
• Musical accompaniment by the Pino Pinto Band and the Sinfonia Voci Teresa Miraglia choir
