Our Lady of Mount Carmel Festival

The 2025 Our Lady of Mount Carmel Festival in Mottola renewed its established tradition with the novena from July 7th to 15th and solemn festivities from July 14th to 16th. During the opening days, the relics of Saint Teresa of Avila were welcomed (July 7-9), and moments of prayer and fellowship were held by the Confraternity of the Carmine and Purgatory, including the presentation of the book "Il sogno di Maria" by Father Salvatore Miscio.

On July 16th, the culminating day, the Church of the Carmine hosted hourly Holy Masses from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM; at dawn, at the "Madonna Abbasc" Sanctuary, Lauds and a celebration presided over by Bishop Sabino Iannuzzi were held. In the evening, at 7:00 PM, the traditional procession took place with the statue carried on the shoulders of the Colonna dei Massari. The festival was accompanied by concerts from the bands of Rutigliano, Gioia del Colle, and Palagianello, the Pino Daniele tribute concert by the band Almanegra, artistic illuminations, and a fireworks display at Largo Rotonda.
