Our Lady of Mount Carmel Festival

The 2025 edition of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Festival took place on July 16, 2025, at the Sanctuary Basilica of the Carmine in Messina. The day featured traditional Holy Masses celebrated from dawn, with numerous faithful gathered in prayer around the 18th-century statue of the Virgin. In the afternoon, the evening procession traversed the streets of the historic center amidst Marian hymns and the accompaniment of the brass band, concluding with fireworks. Mayor Federico Basile attended the celebrations, extending greetings to all Messinese named Carmelo and Carmela, and highlighting the identity-defining value of a devotion rooted in the city since the 13th century.
