Ortyx Drama Festival 2025: the sixth edition
The 6th edition of the Ortyx Drama Festival was held from September 24 to October 5, 2025, with twelve days of free performances in the historic centre of Ortigia, Syracuse. The chosen theme was Eos, the goddess of the dawn, embodying creative awakening and the drive towards the unknown.
The programme, entirely created by the students of the Academy of Ancient Drama of the INDA Foundation, spanned different genres: prose theatre with classical reinterpretations (Faustus), contemporary dramaturgy, musical theatre (The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway), scientific theatre (Formalina CH2O), dance and physical theatre (La Finestra), and street arts with juggling. The performances animated scattered venues such as Piazza dei Cavalieri di Malta, the Ex Convento di San Francesco, the Ex Convento del Ritiro, and the Belvedere della Turba, confirming Ortigia as the natural stage for the festival with free admission upon reservation.
