Edition 2025 โ€” Opera at the Circo Massimo

In 2025, the Summer Season of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma took place, as per tradition, at the Baths of Caracalla with the Caracalla Festival, from June 3 to August 7. The edition, titled "Between Sacred and Human" and directed by Damiano Michieletto, featured new opera productions, dance, and major concerts in the monumental setting of the ancient baths, before restoration work moved the 2026 season to the Circo Massimo.

The 2025 edition of the Summer Season of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma was held at the Baths of Caracalla, the historic home of the summer festival, from June 3 to August 7. Titled "Between Sacred and Human", the Caracalla Festival 2025, conceived by director Damiano Michieletto, presented four new opera productions โ€” including Verdi's La traviata, Mozart's Don Giovanni, and Bernstein's West Side Story โ€” as well as dance by the Ballet Company directed by Eleonora Abbagnato and special evenings, some hosted for the first time in the Basilica of Maxentius. The festival closed on August 7 with Osvaldo Golijov's La Pasiรณn segรบn San Marcos. The 2025 edition represents the last season at Caracalla before the exceptional move to the Circo Massimo planned for 2026, linked to the restoration work of the thermal site.
