2025 Season: "Scarlatti and surroundings"
The 2025 season of the Sicilian Baroque Orchestra in Syracuse was dedicated to Alessandro Scarlatti under the title "Scarlatti and surroundings". The 13 concerts, held from January to December, compared the music of the Sicilian composer with that of his French, German, English, and Spanish contemporaries.
The inaugural concert took place on January 6, 2025, at the Giovanni Paolo II Auditorium, within the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Lacrime, with the program "Around Scarlatti" performed by soprano Martina Licari and flutist Alessandro Nasello. The season alternated between chamber cantatas, comic intermezzos, solo concerts, and a cappella sacred music, visiting venues such as the Capuchin Cloister, the Church of San Pietro al Carmine, the Piccolo Teatro Elvira, and Villa Politi.
