Edition 2025 — Seven Churches

In 2025, the year of the Jubilee, the Night Pilgrimage of the Seven Churches drew numerous faithful to Rome along the ancient devotional itinerary of Saint Philip Neri. As per tradition, the 25-kilometer night walk departed from the Chiesa Nuova to reach Santa Maria Maggiore at dawn, touching the seven basilicas of the Eternal City in a journey of prayer, silence, and song.

The 2025 Jubilee edition

The 2025 edition of the Pilgrimage of the Seven Churches was part of the Jubilee context, taking on a special meaning for pilgrims who arrived in Rome from all over Italy. Organized by the Congregation of the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri, the night walk departed as per tradition from the Chiesa Nuova (Santa Maria in Vallicella), in the heart of the capital's historic center, winding along the approximately 25 kilometers that connect the four major basilicas and three of the most important minor basilicas.

Participants crossed Rome in the silence of the night, alternating moments of prayer, meditation, and song at each of the seven stops, until arriving at dawn in front of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. As every year, the event was repeated in spring and autumn, confirming the vitality of one of the oldest and most deeply felt religious traditions of Rome and the Lazio region.
