Night of the Ronde 2025

The Night of the Ronde 2025 took place in Galatina on Sunday, August 24, from 9:00 PM, in the historic center. Five Salento folk music groups — Sciacuddhuzzi, Scazzacatarante, Jonica Popolare, Niuri te Sule, and Sapunaru project — brought the itinerant ronde to life, starting from five different locations and crossing the city streets with tambourines, voices, and traditional instruments.

The highlight was the great maxi-ronda in Piazza San Pietro, in front of the church of Saints Peter and Paul, with the Pizzica a Botta performed by the Super Taranta ensemble directed by Antonio Castrignanò, which brought together many of the historic musicians of the La Notte della Taranta Festival. The evening also featured a contemporary dance performance by Teatrodanza Skenè with the choreography Rimorse by Patrizia Rucco. The event, with free admission, attracted thousands of people, confirming Galatina as the beating heart of the pizzica tradition in Salento.
