Nicosia Carnival

The 2025 Nicosia Carnival was divided into two major parades, the first on Sunday, March 2, and the final one on Shrove Tuesday, March 4. The event was held under the patronage of the Municipality of Nicosia and, despite the bad weather, confirmed the vitality of a deeply rooted tradition.

Seven costumed groups took part in the parade, each with at least eight participants, presenting themes and performances focused on fun and creativity. The procession crossed the historic center along Via Giambattista Li Volsi and Via Fratelli Testa, ending in Piazza Garibaldi, illuminated by themed lights, where the winning groups were awarded. In 2025, the ancient 'u Pëguriero e u Turco' mask was also present, a symbol of the culture and roots of the Nicosian festival.
