New Year's Eve Torchlight Procession with the Bear Bonfire

The 2025 edition in Caoria

On New Year's Eve 2025, the community of Caoria, in the municipality of Canal San Bovo (Vanoi Valley, Trentino-Alto Adige), gathered for the traditional New Year's Eve Torchlight Procession. From the third hairpin bend of the Scalon road, the procession descended in two groups, on foot and on skis, illuminating the snowy slope down to the church square.

As per tradition, the great Bear Bonfire was lit: the burning of the "vecio orso" symbolized the farewell to the old year. Afterward, the festivities continued with refreshments, a chestnut roast, and the award ceremony for the best New Year's dessert, in an atmosphere of warm alpine conviviality organized by the Caoria Alpini.
