New Year of Wine and Grape Stomping Palio

New Year of Wine 2025

On Sunday, September 28, 2025, San Giovanni in Marignano celebrated the 25th edition of the New Year of Wine and Grape Stomping Palio. From the morning, the historic centre came alive with the "Il Vecchio e l'Antico" market and, from lunchtime, with food stalls offering traditional flavours.

From 3 PM, the festival entered its liveliest phase with over a hundred costumed figures, ancient crafts, and itinerant music. At 5 PM, in Piazza Silvagni, the districts La Cattolica, Monte di Conca, Pian di Ventena, and Pietrafitta competed in the Grape Stomping Palio, stomping grapes barefoot. The square also featured tastings from local wineries, including Cantina Franco Galli, Fattoria Poggio San Martino, Cantina Enzo Ottaviani, and Tenuta del Monsignore.
