Edition 2025 — Mining Day
The 2025 edition in Caltanissetta
The 17th National Mining Day, organized by ISPRA and the National Network of Mining Museums and Parks, took place on May 24 and 25, 2025. In Caltanissetta, on Saturday, May 24, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at the Sicilbanca Conference Hall, the book "Il Paesaggio delle Solfare - Sicilia" by Attilio Scimone was presented. This work collects 212 photographs of twenty Sicilian sulfur mines and texts by scholars on the landscape and historical evolution of sulfur extraction.
The initiative, supported by the Sicilian Region, local municipalities, ISPRA, and the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark, reaffirmed the identity value of mining heritage for the territory of the Province of Caltanissetta and the entire central Sicily.
