National Day of the Republic of Indonesia in Rome

The 2025 Edition

August 17th, 2025, fell on a Sunday and coincided with a milestone anniversary, the eightieth since the 1945 proclamation: an occasion felt particularly deeply by the entire Indonesian diaspora. In Rome, as every year, the celebration was promoted by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia and brought together compatriots residing throughout Italy, along with representatives of institutions and the diplomatic corps accredited in the capital of Lazio.

The day followed the usual format of Tujuhbelasan celebrations: a morning flag-raising ceremony, reading of the proclamation text, a cultural moment, and a convivial gathering with cuisine from the archipelago. An occasion that renews the bond between the Indonesian community and the city that hosts it every year.
