2025 Edition — "Active Memories"

The 12th edition of the Day of Remembrance and Welcome was held in Lampedusa from September 29 to October 3, 2025, developing the theme "Active Memories", a reflection on the legacy of memory understood as the right to identity and justice.

Promoted by the Comitato 3 Ottobre, the edition saw the participation of over 800 students from Italy and eight European countries, who took part in workshops, creative activities, and round tables in dialogue with survivors, victims' families, humanitarian workers, representatives of NGOs, United Nations agencies, and journalists. During the days, the LABANOF team was also present to collect testimonies and assist in the victim identification process.

On October 3, the commemoration concluded with the march to the Porta d'Europa, walked in silence and emotion, and the laying of a floral wreath at sea. On that occasion, the "Legacy of Words" contest, aimed at secondary schools, was launched.
