About Montichiari Medieval

Montichiari Medieval is the historical re-enactment that takes the Brescia village back in time, transforming Bonoris Castle and the historic center into an authentic medieval village. A market of yesteryear, encampments, entertainment, village cuisine, and a historical pageant with a final battle bring distant atmospheres to life. Part of the Maggio Monteclarense, it is one of the most beloved re-enactments in the area, with free admission and many activities for families.

A Dive into the Middle Ages in Montichiari

Montichiari Medieval is the historical re-enactment that transforms Montichiari, in the Province of Brescia, into a medieval village every spring. The heart of the event is the charming Bonoris Castle, one of Italy's most picturesque neo-Gothic residences, around which encampments, entertainment, and period markets are set up.

Market, Village Cuisine, and Entertainment

The historic center hosts the medieval market in Piazza Santa Maria, with artisans and merchants in costume, while Piazza Treccani comes alive with village cuisine, featuring period dishes and flavors. Entertainment, street performances, games, and demonstrations of ancient crafts engage both adults and children throughout the day.

The Historical Pageant and Battle

The highlight of the re-enactment is the historical pageant with costumed participants, culminating in a spectacular final battle. As part of the Maggio Monteclarense program, Montichiari Medieval is one of the most cherished re-enactments in the Brescia region, successfully combining spectacle, history, and tradition with free admission.
