Edition 2025 — Montese Carnival
The 2025 edition of the Montescaglioso Carnival confirmed the vitality of the oldest carnival in Basilicata. The streets of the historic center were filled with parades of large papier-mâché allegorical floats, accompanied by the archaic masks of Carnevalone, Quaremma, and U Fus. Traditional rituals were not lacking, with the carnival wedding of 'U Zit e a Zit', the carnival village, and musical events, culminating in the grand finale with the dawn Carnevalone and the funeral of the Carnival that symbolically closes the festivities.
