Montecorice Carnival

Fourth edition: five days between village and seafront

The 2025 edition of the Montecorice Carnival was the richest to date, with a calendar spread over five days, from March 1st to 5th. The event, promoted by the Pro Loco Ortodonico Cilento together with a grassroots committee of local youth and with the patronage of the Municipality of Montecorice, involved both the capital and the hamlet of Agnone Cilento.

Four allegorical floats paraded — One Piece, Chinese New Year, Il Capitano – GigiDag, and Mary Poppins — accompanied by two groups of performers, including the one themed Japan: Anime and Manga, and the Salerno school «Il Contrapasso», present with a historical pageant and the dance performance «Danzando nei secoli».

Shrove Tuesday, March 4th, hosted the grand final parade in Montecorice town center, concluding in Piazza San Biagio with the closing ceremony and DJ set. Throughout the days, the festival was accompanied by food stalls featuring traditional Cilento products.

Saturday, March 1, 2025 — Agnone Cilento: 2:00 PM in the Assunta area, opening choreography and inaugural ceremony; 3:30 PM departure of the floats from the Agnone Cilento pier and parade along the seafront; in the evening, DJ set with Kiko Loco Navarro and Marco Vitolo. Sunday, March 2, 2025 — Agnone Cilento: floats displayed on the seafront all day; from 3:30 PM «Bimbi in maschera», afternoon for families with inflatables, games, entertainment, and music. Tuesday, March 4, 2025 (Shrove Tuesday) — Montecorice town center: 4:30 PM grand parade of floats through the village streets, arrival in Piazza San Biagio with closing ceremony and DJ set with Alex Catino. Wednesday, March 5, 2025 — Montecorice: 6:00 PM Carnival lottery draw at the Municipal Council Chamber.
