Edition 2025 — Modena BelCanto

The second edition of the Modena BelCanto Festival took place from September 25 to October 12, 2025, featuring over two weeks of concerts, operas, and performances. The programme combined historical memory with openness to the new, including Baroque oratorios, tributes to Puccini, world premieres, and forays into theatre, dance, cinema, and electronic music, in the theatres of Modena and its province.

The 2025 edition, the second of the event, opened on Thursday, September 25, in the Church of Sant'Agostino with «Il martirio di Santa Teodosia» by Alessandro Scarlatti, a 17th-century oratorio that returned to Modena three centuries after the composer's death. On September 26 and 28, the Pavarotti-Freni Municipal Theatre hosted Puccini's «La Bohème» in a new production, conducted by Aldo Sisillo. Among the October events were contemporary dance by the Artemis Danza Company dedicated to Puccini heroines (October 2, Fabbri Theatre of Vignola) and the Gala Concert on October 3 with soprano Jessica Pratt conducted by Daniel Oren. The festival concluded on October 12 with an evening dedicated to Luciano Pavarotti. A programme that confirmed Modena, in Emilia-Romagna, as the city of bel canto.
