Independent music takes the stage in Valmontone
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The MiVA Festival is the independent music festival of Valmontone, a town in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital nestled between the Prenestini Hills and the Sacco Valley. Created to give a voice to emerging bands and artists, the festival aims to highlight the musical creativity of the new generation, offering a dynamic and engaging setting where young talent can perform before a real audience, far from commercial circuits. It is a project backed by the Municipality of Valmontone, which has invested heavily in culture as a driver for local development in recent years.
The first edition of the MiVA Festival took place on August 30th and 31st, 2019, at the Città dello Sport in Valmontone, with the support of the Lazio Regional Council and Valmontone Outlet, in collaboration with the local Youth Council. The stage featured a mix of indie and singer-songwriter acts from Rome and across Italy: Friday night starred 666 and Borghetta Stile, while Saturday featured BRAMA, Giancane, and CLAVDIO, among the most recognizable faces of the new Italian independent scene.
Following its successful debut, the festival was relaunched in the summer of 2025 as part of the Valmontone Cultural Hub program, promoted by DiSCo Lazio under the regional project "Cultural Hubs: Sociality and Work" of the Lazio Region. In this new guise, MiVA returned in July as an event dedicated to emerging talent, integrated into a calendar that also includes artist residencies, the Valmontone Jazz Festival, and comic book exhibitions at Palazzo Doria Pamphilj.
Since its first edition, the MiVA Festival has paired concerts with a series of side activities that make it a true community celebration: food stalls featuring local specialties and a 3-on-3 street basketball tournament organized by the Valmontone Youth Council, open to local teams. This formula blends live music, urban sports, and social atmosphere, designed primarily for the young audience of the Roman province and the nearby Frusinate area.
The festival is part of Valmontone's transformation into a true cultural hub in Lazio: the town, dominated by the 17th-century Palazzo Doria Pamphilj, is best known for its large outlet mall and amusement park, but in recent years it has built a new identity defined by festivals, artist residencies, and musical events. MiVA is the "indie" piece of this mosaic: a chance to discover the emerging Italian music scene while exploring a charming historic center just half an hour from Rome.
Dates and programs for each edition are announced by the Municipality of Valmontone through their official channels. The 2026 edition has not yet been confirmed: we recommend checking for updates on the municipal website before planning your visit.
For the summer of 2026, the MiVA Festival does not yet have confirmed dates: at the moment, there are no official announcements from the Municipality of Valmontone or the city's Cultural Hub program. Based on previous editions—the debut on August 30-31, 2019, at the Città dello Sport and the return in July 2025—the event is expected to take place between July and August. We recommend following the official channels of the Municipality of Valmontone to learn about dates, artists, and entry details as soon as they are released.
By car: A1 Rome-Naples motorway, Valmontone exit; the Città dello Sport and the historic center are reachable in a few minutes from the exit. By train: Valmontone station on the FL6 regional line (Rome-Cassino), with frequent connections from Roma Termini (approx. 40 minutes).
Information regarding entry and pricing is communicated by the Municipality of Valmontone for each edition: please consult the municipal website and the entity's social media channels.
The festival takes place outdoors in mid-summer: light clothing and water are recommended. The visit can be combined with a tour of the historic center, including Palazzo Doria Pamphilj, and shopping at the Valmontone Outlet.
