Edition 2025 — Middle Ages in the Village

Born from the collaboration between Confcommercio Pisa, the Centro Commerciale Naturale, and the Associazione Amici della Chiocciola, the project to enhance the historic center of Santa Maria a Monte laid the foundations for the village's great medieval re-enactment. The characteristic snail-shaped village, with its fortress and squares, preserves the memory of the 1327 siege and a Middle Ages that returns to the center of community events every year.

Before the great re-enactment of the siege of Sancta Maria ad Montem, the snail-shaped village of Santa Maria a Monte, in the province of Pisa, had already begun a path of enhancing its historical heritage thanks to the commitment of the Associazione Amici della Chiocciola, Confcommercio Pisa, and the Centro Commerciale Naturale. The historic center, with its fortress, medieval cistern, and ancient streets, represents the ideal setting to rediscover the history of the Valdarno and the legacy of 1327, when the village came under Florentine control after the occupation by Castruccio Castracani.
