Edition 2025 — Messina Opera Film Festival
9th Edition 2025
The ninth edition of the Messina Opera Film Festival was held from November 29th to December 7th, 2025, at the Sala Laudamo in Messina. Special events included the four opera films broadcast worldwide by Andrea Andermann (1992-2012), with a masterclass by the director on December 4th, and a series of silent films accompanied by live music.
The program included a retrospective dedicated to Giuseppe Verdi, Carmen Day to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the premiere of Bizet's opera, two CineConcerts with the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele Orchestra, and the theatrical show Resta Diva with Enrico Lo Verso, dedicated to Maria Callas. The International Short Film Competition selected 14 finalist works from 6 countries, with a prize of 1,200 euros. The Messina Cinema & Opera awards were presented to Andrea Andermann, Barry Purves, and Fabio Armiliato.
