Edition 2025 — Messa dello Spadone
On January 6th, 2025, Cividale del Friuli renewed the Messa dello Spadone, the Epiphany rite celebrated uninterruptedly for over six hundred years, with the liturgy in the Cathedral, the historical costume re-enactment, and medieval entertainment in Piazza Duomo.
On Epiphany Day 2025, Cividale del Friuli celebrated the Messa dello Spadone, an event that has been renewed uninterruptedly for centuries. In the morning, the solemn mass in the Cathedral with the patriarchal sword and helmet, followed by the re-enactment of Patriarch von Randeck's entry, and in the afternoon, medieval entertainment in Piazza Duomo with musicians, costumed re-enactors, and the traditional Epiphany fireworks.
