Edition 2025 — Mediterranean Sacred Music Festival
The first edition of the festival
The Mediterranean Festival of Sacred Music debuted in Catania from May 7 to 11, 2025, marking the birth of a new festival dedicated to interreligious dialogue through music. Promoted by the AreaSud Association, in collaboration with the International Sacred Music Festival of Pordenone and with the support of the Archdiocese of Catania, the event brought together artists committed to spreading the sacred repertoires cultivated in the Mediterranean.
For one week, the churches and historic sites of central Catania hosted polyphonic choirs, early music ensembles, and soloists of Gregorian and Byzantine chant, in performances capable of evoking the depth of the sacred in its many forms. Alongside the concerts, the program offered lectures, workshops, and photo exhibitions, all with free admission, laying the foundations for an event destined to renew itself in the following years.
