Edition 2025 — Mediterranean Art Theatre

The 21st edition of the Mediterranean Art Theatre Festival took place in Formia from August 29 to 31, 2025, and was entirely dedicated to Palestine. Three days built around dawn readings on Nerva beach, meetings and literary readings at 7:00 PM between the Maranola washhouse, Marina di Castellone, and Gramsci Park, and evening performances at 9:00 PM in the Town Hall courtyard, under the artistic direction of Maurizio Stammati.

21st edition, a look at Palestine

The 2025 edition of the festival, promoted by the Teatro Bertolt Brecht with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Lazio Region, and the Municipality of Formia, chose to dedicate the entire journey to Palestine and the theme of the rights of Mediterranean peoples.

The day began with dawn readings on the new Nerva beach, continued at 7:00 PM with meetings, testimonies, and literary readings hosted in different parts of the city - the ancient washhouse of Maranola, Marina di Castellone, Gramsci Park - and culminated at 9:00 PM with performances in the Town Hall courtyard, featuring theatre, music, and dance.

Artistic director Maurizio Stammati accompanied the edition with a statement that became almost a manifesto: a festival that does not shout or chase famous names, but believes in forests that grow in silence. A sober and participatory edition, which confirmed the festival's deep roots in the Formia community.
