Edition 2025 — Medievalia
Medievalia 2025: four nights in the Middle Ages of Faicchio
From Thursday, August 21, to Sunday, August 24, 2025, the village of Faicchio was once again transformed into a medieval village, with the Ducal Castle serving as a backdrop. Every evening at 7:30 PM (6:00 PM on Sunday), the historical pageant started from Piazza Palmieri to reach Piazza Roma, where the ceremony and the trials of the Palio di San Giovanni took place.
The eight districts competed over the four evenings: preliminary and semifinal rounds of the sack race and three-legged race, the barrel palio, the rooster race, the greasy pole, and archery tournaments, leading up to the finals and the proclamation on Sunday evening.
Surrounding the Palio were performances by Florentine flag-wavers, falconers, fire-eaters, stilt-walkers, and jesters; from 9:00 PM to midnight, wandering musicians—including Mystiknot—animated the alleys, while the Medieval Night extended the party after 11:30 PM. From 8:00 PM onwards, taverns, food stands, and markets opened with traditional Sannio dishes, all with free admission, organized by the Pro Loco in collaboration with the Municipality of Faicchio. The 2025 Palio di San Giovanni was won by the Casali district.
