The return of the Roman festivals

The 2025 edition of Matilica Municipium Romanum, from September 11 to 14 in the historic center of Matelica, brought the "Roman festivals" back to life after more than twenty years of absence. The program alternated history and entertainment: Thursday 11th saw the opening of the taverns, the historical parade with the meeting between Emperor Hadrian and Gaius Arrius Clemens, and the performance of the Nova Bellatores gladiators; Friday 12th featured Roman games in Piazza Mattei and the Bacchanalia Toga Party; Saturday 13th included SPQR educational stands, guided tours, and the free concert by Le Vibrazioni; Sunday 14th had falconry, chariot races, the final parade, and the proclamation of the winning insula. A great public success that relaunched the tradition, organized by Pro Matelica with the patronage of the Municipality of Matelica.
