Edition 2025 — Matera 2026

2025 was the lead-up year to the title: Matera built and presented the program for the Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue 2026, defining the "Terre Immerse" schedule and its four pillars.

In 2025, Matera experienced an intense year of preparation for the title of Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue. The Fondazione Matera-Basilicata 2019, along with the Municipality and the Basilicata Region, worked on constructing the "Terre Immerse" program, publicly presenting the structure of the schedule organized around the four pillars: Stratifications, Isolations, Contaminations, and Transhumances. The year also saw the approach of numerous preview events, such as "Matera Starry Sky," and the consolidation of the twinning with Tétouan, in anticipation of the inauguration scheduled for March 20, 2026.
