Edition 2025 — Night of the Masciari
The 9th edition: November 1st, 2025
The ninth edition of Massafra in the Middle Ages: The Night of the Masciari was held on November 1st, 2025, following the postponement from the original date of October 31st, in the Rione dei Masciari (Rione degli Ostinati) of the historic center of Massafra, in the province of Taranto.
For one night, the narrow streets of the district were populated by performers in medieval attire: wizards, fortune tellers, actors, jesters, stilt-walkers, and falconers brought the Massafra of sorcerers and magic herbs back to life, recalling the legend of the Masciari and the Gravina della Madonna della Scala. The neighborhood's restaurateurs transformed their premises into taverns and inns, offering street food inspired by the local popular gastronomy.
The initiative, dedicated to the promotion of the historic center and its identity, was carried out with the involvement of the Pro Loco and local associations and with the support of the Municipality of Massafra and the Apulia Region.
