Marrone Chestnut Festival

The 2025 edition opened on Saturday, November 1st, with the inauguration in the morning and the start of food and wine stalls at noon. In the afternoon, the village hosted a grand flag-waver show, roving folk music, street performers, and activities dedicated to children.

On Sunday, November 2nd, the stalls reopened at noon, featuring a performance by the folk group Aria di Casa Nostra, which brought costumes, songs, and dances of the Ciociaria tradition to Piazza Eugenio Maggi.

Alongside the food—roasted chestnuts, chestnut jam, polenta, mutton, pecorino, and local wines—the program included guided hikes in the Prenestini Mountains, a visit to the fossil reef and the Geopaleontological Museum housed in Castello Colonna, and planetarium observations. A free shuttle service from Cave connected the valley floor to the village for the duration of the festival.
